Researching augmented reality art and design

März 16, 2012

I was interested in finding out on the interweb how augmented reality had immersed into the art and design world. I didn´t find much. At least not much of value. Most of the augmented reality projects are just experimenting with the technology and making installations with fun graphics. There´s a lack of content. To me content is crucial. I´m not interested in the technology itself but what it can do to add value and content into the experience. Here´s a project that I find interesting concept and content wise and how the use of augmented reality enhance the experience:

This project interesting is the sense to see what happens when different artists go bananas with AR in the MoMA space:

MoMA NYC augmented reality exhibition

Uninvited augmented reality art exhibition in the Museum of Modern Art New York, organised by Sander Veenhof and Mark Skwarek including works of AR artists worldwide through an open call.

And finally a playful and fun augmented reality project:

Beck's Green Box Project

Beck's Green Box Project is an international augmented reality commissioning programme, which seeks to enable hundreds of digital works of art over three years. http://www.becks.com
