To reassure the user, we want to give him the feeling of human contact. From our research, observations and conversations with others, our conclusion was that the breath of someone else must have a very calming effect. We observed across all age groups, that people relax to lay their head on the abdomen or the chest of a human being. Even in animals, this behavior can be observed. For these reasons, we create a pillow that breathes and sets the user a smooth rhythmic motion. He should get the feeling as if his head is on the abdomen of a human being and be accompanied to sleep by the breathing rhythm of the pillow. Initially, the respiration of the user adjusts the moving of the cushion. With the input values the pillow calculates the beginning speed of the pillow-breathing. Over time, the pace slows down so the user can accept this as his breathing rhythm and falls asleep. The technique can be places inside the pillow, next to the pillow or somewhere under or besides the bed.
