1. MySleepGuardian “Guruga”
The concept behind this idea was to create a companion that acts like a guardian for young children. The name is mix between the jap. short form of "Nuigurumi" (jap. stuffed animal) and Guardian. Guruga hugs the child and begins to simulate calm breathing. It vibrates to the breathing rhythm, while its body slightly expands. It furthermore emanates squealing sounds to animate the child to turn around. Moreover, it could alarms parents to help prevent SIDS.2. Head Hugger
Another idea focused more on object that wraps around the sleepers head and glows gently (even stronger in case of a nightmare), gives off a lavender scent to calm. Furthermore it could massage the head and even measure the head temperature. In the case of an infant with a fever it would then alarm the parents.3. DreamLog
We live in a world where we have to be productive 100% of our waking day and where time is becoming increasingly valuable. We recognize that sleep, in general, is to become more and more of a luxury over time. We therefore feel the need to start thinking about utilizing the “dead” time we spend sleeping at night. We can identify several possibilities that could cater to this.- Firstly, the quality of our sleep could be increased in order to shorten the necessary duration of sleep.
- Next, the time we spend sleeping could be used to work (productivity/creativity), train or prepare oneself for the tasks of the following day (proven realistic by research)
- We imagine that dreaming can be a source of creativity and means to generate ideas for someone working in the creative field.
- Because dreams can tell us a lot about the subconscious of a person, being aware of one’s own dreams is valuable from a psychological point of view and can be used to have a therapeutic effect.
