The Cloud is a buzzword getting around since 3 years. It's a concept about having everything as a Service over the Internet. The idea is that there are companies, called services providers, who offer a certain service to customers. With an mostly Web based input and output channel, customers can upload oder retrieve data from the service. Service providers know exactly with what they have to deal with. So it's verry easy for them to create a efficient and powerful infrastructure behind it.
